Sweet Megg + Ricky Alexander Release New Single “My Honey’s Lovin Arms” out March 19
(New York, NY - March 5, 2021) New York City-based jazz artists Sweet Megg (Meaghan Farrell) and Ricky Alexander team up to release their debut single as a duo, "My Honey's Lovin Arms," their modern-day take on the 1922 jazz classic by Joseph Meyer and Herman Ruby. The single, set to drop on March 19th, is from the duo’s upcoming album I'm In Love Again, to be released on Turtle Bay Records on June 11th, 2021.
Coming from very diverse backgrounds, both artists started performing together in New York City in 2014. While Ricky studied jazz since grade school, Megg’s first love was early blues and Americana. She discovered jazz later in her twenties while studying jazz in Paris. After a year abroad and gigging around France, she returned to NYC and formed her jazz band, The Wayfarers. They performed frequently at the popular Mona’s jazz bar in the East Village, where she eventually met and hired saxophonist Ricky Alexander. At the time, Ricky was also leading his own band, The Early Bird Jazz Band, and successfully touring. Their musical collaboration got the attention of Scott Asen, owner of Turtle Bay Records, who encouraged the two to record together, and their debut album, I’m in Love Again, was born.
I’m in Love Againis an amalgam of Sweet Megg’s love of country, blues and Western swing and Ricky’s lifelong love of jazz. Ricky says, “I enjoy pulling Megg farther into jazz, as much as I enjoy how she pulls me into western swing and country. This album is a result of the collaboration of our two personalities, and this unique blend really shines!”
The debut album,I'm In Love Again, by Sweet Megg and Ricky Alexander drops on June 11th. In the meantime, stream the duo's new single from the album, "My Honey's Lovin Arms," out on all digital platforms on March 19th.
